Housing, Travel & Fees:
Accommodations
We stay at a very welcoming and
friendly hotel, located in the Museum Quarter and on a quiet street
on the edge of a residential neighborhood. The rooms are small
but adequate. The hotel is steps to public transportation, and
a very short walk to major museums, shopping, restaurants and
parks. It is a relatively small and very clean hotel. Accommodations
are double occupancy, and include breakfast. Upgrades to single
rooms are available for an additional fee of $600. All rooms have
private bathrooms, television, and telephone. This will be our
sixth year staying at the same wonderful hotel.
While breakfast at the hotel is
included, participants are responsible for their own lunch and
dinners. There are many options available in all price ranges,
from eating inexpensively at open-air markets to a wide variety
of international and reasonably priced restaurants. Amsterdam
is a world-class city for cuisine, with a high concentration of
delicious Indonesian food.
A Museum pass is included in the
program, which allows free admission (for one year!) to most museums
in the Netherlands.
Passports / VISAS / Student ID
Each participant will need a passport
valid through his or her departure from Europe. Passport rules
change periodically. Please verify your passport and check on
any necessary visas well in advance of your departure. International
Student cards are highly recommended for those who qualify. They
can be obtained through student travel agencies located in most
cities, or by phone. Participants must provide the
program with three passport photos before arrival.
Insurance
All participants must also provide
written proof of Travel and Health Insurance coverage, which is
internationally accepted. A copy of this document
must be given to the director before departure.
Travel to Amsterdam
Airfare is not included.
Participants must make their own travel arrangements.
Detailed directions from the airport to the accommodations will
be provided after all registration materials and fees have been
received. It is the Participant's responsibility to
arrive at and depart from the arranged accommodations according
to the program schedule. Participants must provide the directors
with their detailed travel itinerary.
Program Fees
The cost for the July 2008 program
is $2850. A discount is available for returning participants paid
in full by April 1st.
A deposit of $750 is due at the
time of the application. This includes a non-refundable Application
Fee of $200 for accepted applicants.
Final payments may be made in installments,
but payment in full must be received by May 15, 2008.
All checks should be made payable to Charles B. Goss.

of Art, for course credit are as follows:
- 1.5 Undergraduate credits = $187.50 ($125/credit)
- 1.5 Graduate Credits = $217.50 ($145/credit)
Student registration and reporting requirements should be discussed
in advance with the Directors.
Early Registration and Returning Students
For returning students who apply and pay in full
by April 1st, a discount of $175 is offered. Returning students
need to fill out an application, but aren't asked for samples
of work and statements.
There will also be a special rate
of $1250 for spouses and significant others who are not participating
in the artist residency program. Contact us for details.
Refunds
If an applicant cancels, and we
receive written notice of this cancellation before May 15, 2008,
all payments will be refunded except the application fee of $200.
If an applicant cancels, and we
receive written notice of this cancellation after May 15, 2008
and before June 1, 2008, all payments will be refunded minus the
deposit and application fee sum of $750.
There will be no refunds after June
15, 2008.
Cancellation
In the event that a minimum number
of participants is not obtained by May 15, 2008, the program may
be cancelled by the directors. Applicants will then be notified
and refunded all that they have paid except the application fee
of $200.
Please note: that while we provide,
above, for the possibility of having to cancel the program, in
actuality this has never happened. We have run programs, in Amsterdam,
for eight years.
